Shopify A/B testing pricing in 2026: what every tool actually costs
A dedicated pricing page: what each Shopify A/B testing tool charges in July 2026, tier by tier, and exactly which tier unlocks price testing. Rollouts, Intelligems, Shoplift, Convert, ABConvert and more. Prices verified July 2026.
Every Shopify A/B testing tool prices the same way: a low number on the homepage, and the feature you actually came for on a higher tier. This is a plain accounting of what each one costs in July 2026, tier by tier, with the exact rung that unlocks the thing merchants search for most, price testing.
Every figure below was checked against the vendor's own pricing page or Shopify App Store listing in July 2026. Testing apps change tiers often, so re-check before you buy. Amounts are in US dollars unless a euro sign says otherwise.
Every Shopify A/B testing price on one table
TL;DR Entry prices run from $0 (Rollouts) to $399 (Convert monthly); the price-test tier runs from $199 (ABConvert) to $499 (Intelligems). All verified July 2026.
Same columns for everyone, including us. The starting price is the cheapest paid rung; the price-test tier is the rung that lets you test the money.
| Tool | Starting price (monthly) | On annual billing | Price-test tier | How it meters |

The price-test premium: same job, up to 2.5x the price
TL;DR Testing your prices is the most-searched paid feature here, and it sits behind a different paywall in every tool: $199 to $499 for the same job.
Price testing is the feature most merchants are really shopping for, and no two tools gate it at the same price. Here is the ladder, cheapest first, for the tier that actually lets you split a price.
The price-test ladder, cheapest first: Rollouts $0 (cannot test price) → ABConvert $199/mo → Shoplift $399/mo → Intelligems $499/mo. Same job, roughly a 2.5x spread. All tiers verified July 2026.
The gap is about depth, not markup. Intelligems scores price tests on profit, works around Shopify's price-test limits with cart-transform functions, and reaches subscription and multi-currency pricing on its top tier, which is why its price tier is the priciest at $499/mo (intelligems.io, verified July 2026). ABConvert does the core job, splitting a price and reading the result, for less than half that, at $199/mo (Shopify App Store, verified July 2026). Two tools cannot join the ladder at any price: Shopify Rollouts, because prices are not theme changes and it only splits themes, and Convert, whose Shopify integration does not test native prices. If price is the experiment, start from how Shopify price testing actually works, then weigh the cheaper Intelligems alternatives.
Tier by tier: what each price unlocks
TL;DR The homepage price is rarely the price you pay. Each tool hides its real feature (price tests, segmentation, unlimited experiments) one or two tiers up.
Shopify Rollouts: $0, but the A/B test lives on the Grow plan
The Rollouts add-on is free. What is not free is the plan it needs: scheduling and rollback work on Basic ($39/mo), but the actual traffic-split experiment requires the Grow plan or higher, about $105/mo on monthly billing and $79/mo on annual billing (shopify.com/pricing, verified July 2026). It reports conversion rate, average order value, and sessions, but no significance test, no winner call, and no revenue per visitor, and it cannot touch prices or discounts (Shopify Help Center). We took it apart in the full Rollouts teardown.
Intelligems: $79 in the door, $499 for the feature you came for
Core is $79/mo ($59 on annual billing) and covers content and landing-page tests. Price testing, the thing Intelligems is famous for, unlocks on the Plus tier at $499/mo ($374 annual). Blue at $999/mo (about $749 annual, verify live) adds subscription and multi-currency price tests, and a redirect-only plan starts at $49/mo for stores under 3,000 monthly orders (intelligems.io, verified July 2026). This is the single most common pricing surprise in the category: the entry price and the price you actually need are $420 apart.
Shoplift: $99 to start, $399 for price tests
Core is $99/mo ($74 on annual billing, metered by monthly unique visitors) for theme and section tests with a Bayesian significance engine. Advanced is $399/mo ($299 annual) and adds price testing plus deeper segmentation. Pro is $999/mo (about $699 annual, verify live), and every tier has a 14-day trial (shoplift.ai and the Shopify App Store, verified July 2026). If theme testing is the whole job, the $99 tier is the real price; if you came for price tests, budget for $399. The Shoplift alternatives guide covers the cheaper paths.
Convert: from $299 on annual billing, no Shopify price tests
Convert Experiences is a standalone platform: Growth is $399/mo on monthly billing or $299/mo on annual billing (100,000 tested users a month), Pro is $599/mo (about $420 annual, verify live), and enterprise is on request, all with a 15-day trial (convert.com, verified July 2026). It is client-side, and it does not test Shopify prices. The price is only rational once someone on your team ships experiments every month; otherwise you are paying $299 for an idling engine.
ABConvert: $99 start, $199 unlocks price testing
Starter is $99/mo and includes 1,000 test orders (then +$59 per extra 1,000). Growth is $199/mo (5,000 test orders, +$39/1K) and adds price testing. Scale is $399/mo (15,000, +$29/1K) with multi-market price tests, and Pro is $599/mo (30,000, +$24/1K). It is order-metered with a 14-day trial (Shopify App Store, verified July 2026). The trap to model: a good sales month raises your test-order count, which can push you into the next tier.
Trident AB: free to $49.99, impression-metered
The free plan gives you 1 test and 500 impressions a month, which decides nothing; treat it as a way to learn the workflow. Paid tiers run Premium $19.99/mo (5,000 impressions), Business $24.99/mo (50,000), and Enterprise $49.99/mo (unlimited), each with a 5-day trial (Shopify App Store, verified July 2026; verify live, as this tier was last re-checked in early July). It is the budget end of the field, with impression caps that starve most tests of significance.
Varify.io: flat €149 to €249, unlimited traffic
Growth is €199/mo (€149 on annual billing) with 5 active experiments on 1 domain. Pro is €249/mo on annual billing (about €349 monthly, verify live) with unlimited experiments. Pricing is flat with unlimited traffic, it connects through a script on any Shopify plan, and the trial needs no card (varify.io, verified July 2026). The pitch is the missing meter: your bill does not climb when your traffic does.
StorePilot (ours, pre-launch): free 3 months, then a ~$129/mo founding rate
Full disclosure, this one is ours and it has not launched. Founding members get the first 3 months free, then a founding rate anchored around $129/mo and locked for founders, while a $0 free plan stays available after launch; the live number is on the pricing page. It works on any Shopify plan. It watches real shopper behavior, finds the friction worth testing, builds the variant, and judges the result on revenue per visitor with deterministic honest stats (minimum sample plus significance, no early winners). Scope at launch is the product page and cart, so like Rollouts it does not run price or checkout tests. Nothing on this page depends on you using it; the seven tools above are shipping today.
The hidden costs a pricing page will not show you
TL;DR Four costs never appear on the sticker: a forced plan upgrade, traffic-based tier jumps, the monthly-vs-annual gap, and the waste of running a test your traffic cannot power.
Free is not free: the $792/year Rollouts hides
Rollouts advertises $0, but a Basic store cannot run the A/B experiment without moving to the Grow plan. That jump is $39/mo to $105/mo, a difference of $66/mo, or $792 a year, of plan cost with no line item anywhere on Rollouts itself (shopify.com/pricing, verified July 2026). Native A/B testing is real, and it is genuinely useful, but the honest price of it on a Basic store is a plan upgrade, not zero.
Your bill rises exactly when you succeed
Metering type is a hidden multiplier that vendors rarely headline. Shoplift is visitor-metered, so the price climbs from $99 to $399 to $999 as your monthly uniques grow. ABConvert is order-metered with per-1,000 overage, from +$59 down to +$24 as tiers rise, so a strong sales month can nudge you up a tier. Trident AB is impression-capped, with the free plan stopping at 500 impressions. Varify.io is the only flat-rate option in the field, one price whatever your traffic (each vendor's page and App Store listing, verified July 2026). Before you commit, model the bill at the traffic you expect to have in six months, not today.
The monthly-vs-annual gap: 20 to 25 percent
Annual billing is the easiest discount in the category, and it is bigger than most merchants notice. Convert alone is $100/mo cheaper on annual billing.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per mo) | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify Grow plan | $105/mo | $79/mo | ~25% |
| Convert Growth | $399/mo | $299/mo | $100/mo |
| Intelligems Plus | $499/mo | $374/mo | $125/mo |
| Shoplift Core | $99/mo | $74/mo | $25/mo |
| Varify Growth | €199/mo | €149/mo | €50/mo |
Each figure is from the vendor's own pricing page (or shopify.com/pricing for the Grow plan), verified July 2026. The 25 percent on Grow is Shopify's own annual discount; third-party vendors set their own.
The most expensive test is the one your traffic cannot power
The cost nobody prices in is running a test that can never conclude. Detecting a typical small lift takes tens of thousands of visitors per variant, so a store doing a few thousand visits a month can wait a year or more for one clean result, no matter which app it pays for (see the sample-size math). Paying $199 or $499 for a tool your traffic cannot feed is more wasteful than paying nothing, because you also spend weeks acting on numbers that never reached significance. If your traffic is thin, start with the low-traffic playbook before you buy anything.
Which pricing fits your store
Match the plan to the job and the traffic, not to the brand. Four situations cover almost every store.
Tight budget, theme tests only: Shopify Rollouts is free if you are already on the Grow plan, and Trident AB starts at $19.99/mo if you want a dedicated app to learn on. Neither gives you a significance verdict, so you carry more of the statistical judgment yourself.
You need price tests and want to watch the bill: ABConvert at $199/mo is the cheapest tier that splits a price, and Intelligems at $499/mo is the deepest if profit-scored, multi-currency pricing is the goal. Shoplift's $399/mo Advanced tier sits between them and adds price testing to a strong theme tester (all verified July 2026).
High or spiky traffic: Varify.io's flat €149/mo on annual billing stops the meter from punishing you for growing, which visitor-metered and order-metered tools do not.
A real testing program, run monthly: Convert from $299/mo on annual billing is the only full standalone stats engine here, and it earns its price only if someone ships experiments every month.
The honest takeaway: the sticker price is the smallest number in this category. Price the tier that unlocks your real test, add the plan upgrade or traffic overage it triggers, take the annual discount, and make sure your traffic can actually feed the tool before any of it is worth paying.

Is Shopify's native A/B testing free?
The Rollouts add-on itself costs $0, but the traffic-split experiment is gated to the Grow plan or higher, about $105/mo on monthly billing ($79/mo on annual billing). The Basic plan ($39/mo) gets only scheduling and rollback. Rollouts also runs no significance test, no winner call, and no revenue-per-visitor metric, and it cannot test prices or discounts (Shopify Help Center; shopify.com/pricing, verified July 2026).
What is the cheapest way to A/B test prices on Shopify?
ABConvert is the cheapest tier that tests price: its Growth plan is $199/mo (verified on the Shopify App Store, July 2026). Above that, Shoplift adds price testing on its Advanced tier at $399/mo, and Intelligems goes deepest on its Plus tier at $499/mo. Shopify Rollouts cannot test price at all, because prices are not theme changes. All prices verified July 2026.
How much does an A/B testing app cost on Shopify overall?

Verified July 2026.
Does A/B testing pricing scale with my traffic?
It depends on how the tool meters. Shoplift is visitor-metered ($99 to $399 to $999 by monthly uniques). ABConvert is order-metered with per-1,000 overage (from +$59 down to +$24 as tiers rise). Trident AB is impression-capped (the free plan stops at 500 impressions a month). Varify.io is the only flat-rate option, one price for unlimited traffic. Verified July 2026.

How much does ABConvert cost?
ABConvert Starter is $99/mo (1,000 test orders, then +$59 per extra 1,000). Growth is $199/mo (5,000 test orders, +$39/1K) and adds price testing. Scale is $399/mo (15,000, +$29/1K) with multi-market price tests, and Pro is $599/mo (30,000, +$24/1K). It is order-metered with a 14-day trial. Verified on the Shopify App Store, July 2026.
