Intelligems alternatives: 7 honest options for 2026

Intelligems earns its place as Shopify's price-testing leader. It is also a big line item. Seven alternatives with verified pricing and real trade-offs.

Intelligems is the best price-testing app on Shopify, and this page will not pretend otherwise. The catch: price testing sits on a $499-a-month tier, and plenty of stores never test prices at all. Here are seven alternatives, with pricing verified on July 3, 2026.

What Intelligems is genuinely good at

Intelligems built its name on money tests: product prices, shipping rates and thresholds, discounts, offers, and bundles, scored on profit instead of clicks, with a real significance engine underneath. For a store asking "what should this cost?", nothing on Shopify matches it. Core starts at $79 a month ($59 on annual billing) and covers the non-price experiments. Price testing arrives with Plus at $499 a month ($374 annual), Blue runs $999, and a stripped-down redirect tier starts at $49 for stores under 3,000 monthly orders (intelligems.io/pricing, July 3, 2026).

If that describes your store, buy it and stop reading; we rank it well in our full roundup of Shopify A/B testing apps too. The rest of this page is for stores that test layouts instead of prices, cannot justify $499 for one tool, or lack the order volume a price test needs.

Nothing below is a knock on Intelligems. The question is fit and budget, not quality.

Why merchants go looking for an alternative

Three reasons keep coming up. First, the price gate: $79 gets you in the door, but the headline feature costs $499 a month. Second, mismatch. If your tests are hero layouts, product page sections, and theme versions, you are paying for price machinery you never touch. Third, volume: price tests read on orders, not sessions, so a store doing two hundred orders a month can run one for a quarter and still not know. A quieter fourth: some merchants just want fewer knobs.

The seven alternatives, honestly compared

Each entry covers what it does, who it fits, the trade-off, and verified pricing.

1. Shoplift: the theme-testing swap

Shoplift is the strongest Intelligems alternative for theme and template testing. It splits themes, templates, and landing pages, targets audiences, and calls results with a Bayesian significance engine. Core is $99 a month ($74 on annual billing), metered by monthly unique visitors; Advanced is $399 ($299 annual) and adds price testing; Pro is $999 ($699 annual), all verified on the App Store listing July 3, 2026. Trade-offs: two variants per test, visitor-metered plans that climb with traffic, and price tests only arrive on the $399 Advanced tier. If themes are your whole program, read our theme testing guide before you pay anyone.

2. ABConvert: price testing for less

ABConvert is the closest like-for-like swap when price testing is the point. Its Starter tier ($99 a month, $74 annual) leaves price tests out; they switch on with Growth at $199 a month ($149 annual). Plans are metered by test orders, 5,000 on Growth, with overage fees past the cap (abconvert.io, July 3, 2026). The Intelligems vs ABConvert math is $199 against $499 for the same category of test, weighed against Intelligems' deeper profit analytics and longer track record. Check your monthly order count against the caps before assuming the savings hold.

3. Convert: the full statistics engine

Convert is the pick when you want a mature statistics engine and test beyond one Shopify store. It is a standalone experimentation platform, not a Shopify app: Growth is $399 a month ($299 annual) for 100,000 tested users a month (convert.com, July 3, 2026). Agencies and experienced CRO teams get their money's worth. The trade-offs: it runs client-side on Shopify, you bring every hypothesis and build every variant, and it does not test Shopify prices. At $399 it is an Intelligems-sized line item pointed at a different job.

4. Trident AB: the budget path

Trident AB is the cheapest way in. There is a free plan with a single test capped at 500 impressions a month, and paid tiers run from $19.99 to $49.99 a month (App Store listing, July 3, 2026). The honest caveat: 500 impressions cannot reach a significant read on the conversion gaps real stores see, so treat the free plan as a way to learn the mechanics, not a verdict machine. The paid tiers suit small, simple tests rather than a full program.

5. Varify: flat-rate testing

Varify sells the one thing metered tools do not: a flat rate. It is a German web testing tool: the Growth plan runs €199 a month (€149 on annual billing) with unlimited traffic and a free trial that needs no card (varify.io, July 3, 2026). Stores that resent watching a visitor meter will like the predictability. The trade-offs: it is a general-purpose web tester rather than a Shopify app, so setup, test ideas, and variant building all stay on your plate; the Growth plan caps you at 5 active experiments; and Shopify price testing is out of scope.

6. Shopify Rollouts: the free native path

Shopify Rollouts is the free path, and for theme tests a good one. Native and server-side, it splits whole theme versions with no flicker and no app fee, then reports the numbers. Two catches: the A/B experiment needs the Grow plan or higher (about $105 a month, verify live), and it gives you no significance verdict, no revenue per visitor, and no price tests. You read the metrics and make the call yourself. The full picture, including what it quietly leaves out, is in our Rollouts breakdown.

7. StorePilot: the agent route (ours, pre-launch)

StorePilot does a different job than everything above. Rather than waiting for a hypothesis, it watches real shopper behavior, finds the friction on your product page and cart, builds the variant (theme-safe, reversible, preview before anything ships), and judges results with deterministic statistics on revenue per visitor. It is designed for the low-traffic stores split tools leave behind. It will not test prices, the same platform boundary everyone here shares, and the first version covers product page and cart only. Waitlist founders get 3 months free, then a founding rate (anchor $129 a month, verify on pricing).

RPV is revenue per visitor. The StorePilot row describes the product we are building; it has not launched.

Which alternative should you pick?

Whichever you pick, the tool matters less than the discipline: one change at a time, judged on revenue per visitor, with no early winner calls. That discipline is the whole of our CRO playbook for Shopify.

Questions merchants keep asking

Is Intelligems worth it?

For price and offer testing on steady order volume, yes. It is the category leader, and its analytics score profit, where most tools stop at conversion. It fits poorly if you mostly test themes or run thin traffic, and price testing needs the $499 Plus tier (intelligems.io, July 2026).

What is the cheapest Intelligems alternative?

Trident AB, which has a free plan and paid tiers from $19.99 a month. For price testing specifically, the cheapest real path is ABConvert's Growth tier at $199 a month. Shopify Rollouts carries no app fee, but it needs the Grow plan and cannot test prices.

Can I A/B test prices on Shopify without Intelligems?

Yes. ABConvert runs price tests from its $199-a-month Growth tier. Shopify's native Rollouts cannot help here, because prices are not theme changes. Whichever tool you use, judge a price test on profit per visitor rather than conversion rate, since a lower price often wins conversion while losing money.

Does Shopify Rollouts replace Intelligems?

No. They do different jobs. Rollouts splits whole theme versions server-side, with no app fee on the Grow plan or higher, but it cannot touch prices, discounts, or shipping, and it gives no significance verdict. Intelligems exists precisely for the money tests Rollouts cannot run. See our Rollouts breakdown.

What is the best Intelligems alternative for theme testing?

Shoplift, which is built around theme and template tests with a Bayesian significance engine, from $99 a month. The free route is Shopify Rollouts on the Grow plan or higher, if you are comfortable reading the numbers yourself. Our theme testing guide covers how to run either properly.
