Candy Rack review 2026: pricing, features and an honest verdict

Every Candy Rack price tier from $29.99, what it upsells in each slot, what its 260 App Store reviews actually say, the catches, and how it compares to AfterSell, Selleasy, Zipify and Rebuy. Verified September 22, 2026.

Candy Rack is an all-in-one upsell and cross-sell app for Shopify from Digismoothie. It puts offers on the product page, in its own slide-out cart, at checkout and after purchase, and it bills on your store's order volume rather than taking a cut of the revenue its offers bring in. This review covers every price tier, what it actually does in each slot, what its 260 App Store reviews say, where it falls short, and how it compares to the alternatives. Every figure was read from the App Store listing and Digismoothie's own pricing page on September 22, 2026.

What Candy Rack is

TL;DR A Built for Shopify upsell and cross-sell app, on the App Store since 2018, that covers seven offer placements across the whole buying journey from one install.

Candy Rack is made by Digismoothie, an EU-based Shopify partner whose other apps include Gift Box and Nada, and it has been on the Shopify App Store since October 17, 2018. It is built for one job, raising average order value, and it approaches that job from every angle a store has: an add-on offer on the product page, a cross-sell or rewards bar inside its own slide-out cart, offers at checkout, and one-click offers after the order is placed. Digismoothie describes that as seven upsell offer placements, and every plan includes all of them.

It carries Shopify's Built for Shopify badge, which Shopify awards to apps that meet its standards for performance, design and integration. For an upsell app that matters more than usual: the fastest way for an upsell widget to lose money is to slow the product page it sits on.

What it does not do is tell you whether an upsell is creating new revenue or just moving a purchase that would have happened anyway. No upsell app does. We come back to how to check that at the end.

Candy Rack pricing 2026, every tier

TL;DR $29.99 to $399.99 a month, set by your store's orders over the last 30 days, with every feature and unlimited upsell revenue on every plan. Yearly billing costs ten times the monthly price.

Candy Rack has one pricing axis: how many orders your whole store took in the last 30 days. Features do not change between plans, and there is no cap on upsell orders or upsell revenue, so a plan change only ever reflects growth in your total order count.

Every paid tier includes the seven offer placements, AI-powered upsells, unlimited upsell orders and sales, and 24/7 chat and e-mail support, with an 8-day free trial. The App Store listing adds a 60-day money-back guarantee. Digismoothie's page lists Elite from 5,000 orders and Enterprise from 10,000; stores in between should confirm which applies.

Three things about that ladder are worth knowing before you commit. First, it counts all store orders, not only the ones an offer touched, so a high-volume store with a low order value moves up it faster than it would on an app billed on upsell revenue. Second, the steps are gentle up to 2,000 orders ($29.99 to $99.99) and then double at 2,001 ($199.99), so a store near that boundary should model both sides of it. Third, the yearly plan is simply two months free.

The free plan. The listing shows a free plan, but it applies only to Shopify trial and development stores. Both of Candy Rack's one-star reviews came from merchants who installed it on a live store expecting that plan. It is the single most common misunderstanding about the app, and the fix is simply knowing it in advance.

Features, slot by slot

TL;DR Offers in four slots, a built-in cart drawer, bundles and quantity breaks, AI product picks, and analytics with A/B testing, all on every plan.

Product page. One-click add-ons next to the buy button, product recommendations and frequently-bought-together offers, plus the listing's full set of add-on types: free gifts, gift wrap, warranties and shipping protection. This is the slot where Candy Rack's volume bundles and quantity breaks do their work, turning a single-unit order into a multi-unit one with tiered discounts.

Cart drawer. Candy Rack ships its own slide-out cart rather than relying on your theme's, with cross-sell offers inside it and a rewards bar that shows how far the shopper is from free shipping or a gift. If you already use a separate cart app, this is the overlap to plan around. For setting the threshold itself, our free-shipping threshold calculator does the maths.

Checkout. Offers inside the checkout steps are available, but only on Shopify Plus, because Shopify reserves those steps for Plus stores. That is a platform rule, not a Candy Rack limit, and it applies to every app on the market.

After purchase. One-click offers after payment and offers on the thank-you page. This is the lowest-risk slot on any store: the order is already placed, so a declined offer cannot cost you the sale.

AI and analytics. Candy Rack's AI suggests which products to offer, using an engine you choose, including Google Gemini. Reporting covers click-through, conversion, recommendation performance and funnel performance, and A/B testing is built in, so you can compare one offer against another inside the app.

Integrations and languages. It works with Shopify Checkout, customer accounts, Shopify Flow, Translate & Adapt, PageFly, Intelligems, Sidekick and Digismoothie's own Gift Box, and runs in 13 languages, including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Japanese and both Portuguese variants.

What 260 App Store reviews say

TL;DR 254 five-star, 4 four-star, no three- or two-star, 2 one-star. The praise is overwhelmingly about support; both complaints are about the free plan.

Candy Rack's rating is 4.9 across 260 reviews, and the distribution is unusually lopsided: 254 five-star reviews, four four-star, none at three or two stars, and two at one star (App Store, September 22, 2026). Scores that clean usually hide something in the low end, so we read it.

The praise clusters around three things. Support comes first by a distance: reviewers name individual agents who fixed a layout or wrote custom code to fit the app to their theme, and describe the replies as fast. Second is fit, reviewers describing offers that sit inside their store's design instead of looking bolted on, across placements from the product page to post-purchase. Third is longevity: several reviews are from stores that have run it for two years or more, which is a better signal than a burst of reviews in a launch month.

The complaints are both about the same thing. One merchant in August 2025 and one in July 2026 installed Candy Rack on a live store expecting the free plan, found it applied only to trial and development stores, and left one star after minutes of use. Digismoothie replied to each within two days, pointed to the plan terms and offered an extended trial. Neither complaint is about the app's behavior once running.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • All four upsell slots, a cart drawer, bundles and quantity breaks on every plan
  • No share of upsell revenue; unlimited upsell orders and sales
  • Built for Shopify badge, so it meets Shopify's own performance bar
  • 4.9 stars across 260 reviews, 98% of them five-star
  • Support that reviewers repeatedly single out, including custom code
  • 8-day trial plus a 60-day money-back guarantee

Cons

  • The free plan is for trial and development stores only
  • Price follows total store orders, not upsell results
  • A price jump from $99.99 to $199.99 at 2,001 orders
  • Its built-in cart drawer overlaps with any cart app you already run
  • 260 reviews is a thinner base than Selleasy's or ReConvert's
  • In-checkout offers need Shopify Plus (true of every app)

Candy Rack vs the alternatives

TL;DR Candy Rack is the broad, predictable-price option. Specialists win on a single slot, and Selleasy wins on price for a small store.

Ratings, review counts and entry prices from each app's Shopify App Store listing on September 22, 2026. The full slot-by-slot comparison is in our guide to the best Shopify upsell apps.

Candy Rack vs AfterSell. AfterSell is the post-purchase specialist (4.9 stars across 1,051 reviews). Its $34.99 plan covers post-purchase only; matching Candy Rack's coverage of the cart and product page takes its $79.99 Complete plan. Pick AfterSell if post-purchase is all you want; pick Candy Rack if you want every slot for less.

Candy Rack vs Selleasy. Selleasy is cheaper for a small store, free to 50 orders and $9 a month to 500, with the deepest review base at a 4.9 score. Its listing names cart, product-page, checkout and thank-you-page upsells but not a one-click post-purchase page, and it has no built-in cart drawer of its own. Price-first stores should start with Selleasy; stores that want the drawer and post-purchase in one app should look at Candy Rack.

Candy Rack vs Zipify One Click Upsell. The difference is the bill. Zipify charges on the upsell revenue it earns, from $9.95 a month, which is cheap while offers are small and grows with their success. Candy Rack charges on total orders. A store whose upsells convert well at high volume will usually find Candy Rack's flat step cheaper; a store testing the water may find Zipify's start cheaper.

Candy Rack vs Rebuy. Rebuy is a personalization engine for larger catalogs, with a free Monetize plan and paid plans from $25 a month that scale with orders. It earns its keep where recommendation quality across thousands of products matters most. For a small or mid-sized catalog, Candy Rack does the upsell job with less setup.

Who Candy Rack is for, and who should skip it

A good fit: stores from their first sales up to a few thousand orders a month that want one upsell app instead of three, with bundles, quantity breaks and a cart drawer included, and a support team that will fit it to their theme. The $29.99 to $99.99 range covers up to 2,000 orders a month.

Worth modelling first: stores just above 2,000 orders a month, where the price doubles to $199.99, and very high-volume stores with a low order value, where a revenue-based app may cost less.

Probably not for you: a store that only wants one post-purchase offer, a store already committed to a separate cart drawer app, or a brand-new store that wants to start free (Selleasy and ReConvert are free to 50 orders).

How to tell if Candy Rack is paying for itself

The dashboard will show upsell revenue. That number is not the same as new revenue.

An upsell app's own reporting counts every accepted offer as upsell revenue, including the add-ons shoppers would have bought anyway. The honest scoreboard is revenue per visitor across the whole store, before and after, or better, between visitors who see the offers and a holdout who do not. If revenue per visitor rises by more than the plan's monthly cost, Candy Rack is paying for itself. Our A/B testing guide explains the metric, and the AOV playbook covers which offers tend to create new revenue rather than move it around.

Use the 8-day trial to confirm the offers fit your theme, and the 60-day money-back window to measure revenue per visitor over enough traffic to trust the result.

The honest verdict: Candy Rack is the most complete single upsell app at its price, backed by unusually consistent reviews and support. Know that the free plan is for development stores, model the price at your real order count, and judge it on revenue per visitor, not on the upsell revenue its own dashboard reports.

Candy Rack questions merchants ask

Is Candy Rack free?

Only on Shopify trial and development stores. A live store starts on the Lite plan at $29.99 a month for 0 to 50 store orders, after an 8-day free trial, and the App Store listing adds a 60-day money-back guarantee (App Store and digismoothie.com, September 22, 2026). Both of Candy Rack's one-star reviews came from merchants who expected a free plan on a live store, so read the plan names before you install.

How much does Candy Rack cost?

It is priced on your store's orders in the last 30 days: $29.99 a month for 0 to 50 orders, $39.99 for 51 to 200, $59.99 for 201 to 500, $79.99 for 501 to 1,000, $99.99 for 1,001 to 2,000, $199.99 for 2,001 to 3,000, $299.99 for 3,001 to 5,000 and $399.99 above 5,000, with Enterprise quoted above 10,000. Yearly billing costs ten times the monthly price, so two months free (digismoothie.com, September 22, 2026).

Does Candy Rack take a percentage of upsell revenue?

No. Every plan includes unlimited upsell orders and revenue, and the price moves only with your total store orders. That is the opposite of revenue-based apps such as Zipify One Click Upsell, whose bill climbs with the upsell revenue it earns. Which model is cheaper depends on your order volume and how many upsells convert.

Does Candy Rack work without Shopify Plus?

Yes, for the product page, its cart drawer, the thank-you page and post-purchase offers. Like every upsell app, anything placed inside the checkout steps themselves (Information, Shipping, Payment) needs Shopify Plus, because Shopify reserves those steps for Plus stores.

Does Candy Rack slow down my store?

It carries Shopify's Built for Shopify badge, which requires meeting Shopify's performance and design standards, so it is less of a speed risk than an unvetted widget. Any upsell block still adds something to the page, so compare revenue per visitor before and after install rather than trusting any listing, including this one.

Who makes Candy Rack?

Digismoothie, a Shopify partner based in the EU whose other apps include Gift Box and Nada. Candy Rack has been on the Shopify App Store since October 17, 2018, and it has 4.9 stars across 260 reviews (App Store, September 22, 2026).

What are the best Candy Rack alternatives?

AfterSell if you only need one-click post-purchase offers, Selleasy if price matters most (free to 50 orders, then $9 a month), Rebuy for AI personalization across a large catalog, ReConvert for thank-you-page funnels, and Zipify One Click Upsell if you would rather pay on upsell revenue than on orders. Our full comparison of Shopify upsell apps ranks them by slot.

Is Candy Rack worth it?

For a store that wants one app covering the product page, cart, checkout and post-purchase, with no share of upsell revenue, it is one of the strongest options on the App Store, and 98% of its reviews are five stars. It is worth it if it lifts revenue per visitor by more than its monthly price at your order volume, which you can check within its 8-day trial and 60-day money-back window.
